Leaders of the Commonwealth countries meet every 2 years at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The President of Rwanda HE Paul Kagame and Commonwealth Secretary-General The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland have today announced the new date for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) which was to have been held in Kigali in June 2020 but was postponed because of the impact of COVID-19.
The 26th CHOGM and associated events will be held in Kigali. The new date agreed with member countries will be the week of 21 June 2021.

Theme
The theme for CHOGM 2021 is ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming.’ Leaders will discuss how to deliver the things which were discussed at CHOGM 2018 in London, which was on the theme ‘Towards a Common Future.
Forums
Ahead of the meeting, members of parliament, youth and gender activists, and representatives from society and business will meet at special forums to make sure the voices of women, young people, businesses, and other organizations are heard at CHOGM.
