GOOD NEW!!! THE PARK REOPENING VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK WITH ONLY TWO PACAKGES

Dear Partners,

Firstly the tourism team would like to wish you a very Happy New Year and may 2021 be better than 2020.

Although the global pandemic continues, ICCN and the director of Virunga National Park have taken the decision to open tourism on the 1st of April 2020.

They have decided to do a gradual opening of the park, starting with Kibumba and Nyiragongo.

Tchegera is open for bookings already; as is Nyiragongo with certain restrictions in place. Nyiragongo will open on Saturdays only with minimum groups of 12 pax. Both will operate under these conditions until the 1st of April. Tchegera will be open on a daily basis but Nyiragongo will only open on a daily basis from the 1st of April.

The first two packages that will be available with daily departures from Goma are outlined below. Mikeno and the Bukima gorillas will open up on the 1st June 2021 but with a few changes. Whilst we cannot announce the exact conditions for Le Petit Mikeno, the Great Ape, and the Virunga Classic, we will be sure to share these as soon as we have finalized these.

1st April 2021

· Package 1 – Nyiragongo

· Package 2 – Mikeno Mist

There will be daily departures from Goma for both of these packages.

Due to the pandemic and for the safety of the gorillas, we will be requesting proof of a negative Covid test before clients are allowed to trek the gorillas as well as the normal checks and face masks.

Within the next two days, you will receive further information on Covid procedures and protocols which you will be able to share with your prospective clients, both in English and French.
