Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, then embark on a scenic drive down south with many optional scenic stopovers for pictures and interactions with the locals. Along the drive, visit the former King’s Palace in Nyanza (the ROYAL LAND of Rwanda), where you will learn more about the ancient history of the Rwandan Kingdom, see replicas of the traditional Rwandan huts, the royal cows (inyambo) and the old modern palace.

Enjoy lunch in Nyanza/Huye before you visit the National Museum/Murambi Genocide memorial to learn more about Rwanda’s history, arriving at the lodge at dawn.


Overnight: One & Only Nyungwe House, Nyungwe Top View Hotel, Emeraude Kivu Resort.

Early morning with a packed breakfast at 5 am, drive with your park ranger to the trailhead for about an hour and 20 minutes. A short briefing before you start the walk with a maximum of 8 people; the park’s biodiversity is rich, and you can enjoy more than chimps and a lot of birdlife another primate species like Mona monkeys silver monkeys. You will have 1 hour with our closest cousins, an endangered species of the great apes.

On return drive back to the lodge for a relaxed lunch. In the afternoon, go to the park for the canopy walkway, a raised bridge of about 160m length that gives you a panoramic view of the forest; along the hike, enjoy the different birdlife species/primates. OR enjoy a nature walk leading to one of the park’s waterfalls (Ndambarare OR Isumo Falls), a walk of therapy as you want the largest rainforest in East and Central Africa. Both hikes will take you about 2 hours.

After a relaxed breakfast, embark on the most scenic drive along the Kivu Belt route with great views of Lake Kivu and rice fields. Optional stopovers along the way to break the long drives, enjoy a cup of Rwandan coffee/tea or beer, and later enjoy lunch on the shores of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi. Set off to Musanze a drive that takes about an hour and a half, arriving in good time to check in and enjoy a relaxed evening as you get ready for yet the most exciting adventure.


Overnight: Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel, Singita Kwitonda Lodge, One & Only Gorillas Nest.

Early morning breakfast at the lodge before you depart at 6:30 am, a short drive to the park office where allocation for the gorilla groups/briefing takes place, with a maximum of 8 pax in every gorilla group, a lifetime adventure with the gorillas where you spend 1 hour with this magnificent primate species.

On return, enjoy lunch at the lodge. OPTIONAL afternoon activities like community visits to experience the local/culture of Rwandans, a scenic drive to the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, and canoeing on River Mukungwa.

Early breakfast at the lodge before you depart at 6:30 am, a short drive to the park office where allocation/briefing takes place. With a maximum of about 15-20 people in a group, you will hike to trek the golden monkeys, where you will spend 1 hour with this magnificent primate species. On return, enjoy lunch at the lodge/option to freshen up, set off for Kigali, and drop off at the airport/hotel.
